MISSION
Our mission is to organise a thinking and networked community alerting to China's growing importance in its relationship with the world. Observa China's network is formed by people with a well-established career in the field of China Studies, but also by young engaged professionals, students and anyone with a passion for understanding and debating China.
We are always looking to involve people who want to discuss China in all its facets; whether it be political, economical, social, cultural or philosophical. Our community is organised around a broad membership programme and around our events, hosted every Saturday, where we feature various speakers, have open discussions and create lasting connections.
STORY
Founded in 2020 by a group of "headstrong young professionals", Observa China has already gone through various fundamental changes as it seeks to establish a network that leads pertinent debates on China.
Many of our founders studied in China, have professional experiences in the country and have worked on relevant charitable projects in the third-sector. All of them reflect the quality of our members and Observa China’s potential for growth.
We started this project with the aim of creating various networks in China as well as the lusophone world. However, taking into account our evermore interconnected world, we quickly discovered the value of optimising Observa China’s impact through digital tools, creating a fully digital Think Tank whose aims exist not only in research but also in interpersonal relationships. We, thus, see Chinese studies as a community-led venture that seeks to redefine the way we see China.
